Thinkster Curriculum

Built for Lifelong Learning

We’re on a mission to provide a comprehensive curriculum that develops not just maths skills, but thinking skills. Our team of dedicated maths experts designed our curriculum to reflect the complexity and nuance of real life situations. When your child can process this kind of information in non-routine ways, their mind becomes more powerful and efficient.

Computational Skills

Maths is a lot more than just computational skills. Thinkster’s maths curriculum develops your child’s ability to think non-linearly, creatively, and analytically with data. Being able to sort through the relevant information and solve problems is the true mark of mastery.

Arithmetic Fluency

5 + 3 = ____

8 - 5 = ____

6 x 4 = ____

9 ÷ 3 = ____

By solving hundreds of problems in each topic, your child gains fundamental skills: fluency in maths facts, accuracy, efficiency and flexibility with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Critical Thinking Skills

The twin pillars that support substantial learning are critical thinking and logical / analytical reasoning: the art of asking questions to understand context and constraints; the ability to problem solve given a set of criteria.

Critical Thinking, Logical/Analytical Reasoning

How many fruits are in a basket that has 3 apples, 5 oranges, and 2 carrots?

Real life word problems are a part of every skill set in our curriculum. We design these problems to include conceptually unrelated numbers (or distractors). Demonstrating what operations to use to solve problems, in the presence of distractors, is critical for gaining proficiency in a topic.

Aligned to School Work

With your input, your coach can easily customise your child’s study plan to reflect and reinforce what they’re learning in school. Along with this customisation, we build test-taking skills through frequent evaluations.

We conduct periodic reviews to accelerate learning. It isn’t how much you have learned, but how quickly can you learn. It is about capacity maximisation and steep learning curves!

Thinkster students frequently take small and large tests

  • Thinkster Unit Tests are similar to a class’ topic test

  • Thinkster Skills Assessments are comparable to a class’ end of year test

Testing frequently helps students

  • develop strong test taking skills

  • feel confident taking tests

  • remember material over a long period of time

We are aligned to the idea that a solid foundation in maths is critical for every child

Singapore Math Framework

We focus on having our students develop expertise in whole numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals—which helps our Year 1-9 students to become ready for more demanding maths concepts and procedures. Through this, our students develop the capability to apply their knowledge to real life situations.

We then move our students through more complex work in geometry and algebra and develop confidence and mastery in preparation for higher level maths.
